Pierre Iachetti

Director of Energy, Environment & Climate Change Vancouver Island Health Authority

Pierre Iachetti is a Professional Agrologist and Registered Professional Planner. Pierre has led numerous multidisciplinary, transboundary teams of professionals in multi-year, multi-agency projects across the Pacific Northwest. He is an expert in climate change, sustainability, and conservation. He is currently working with six First Nations on on-reserve infrastructure which includes high-performance buildings and renewable energy opportunities. Pierre’s PhD (abd) research in civil engineering focuses on culturally-appropriate, affordable, high-performance homes in on-reserve First Nations communities. Pierre was previously part of the scientific team that created the ecological underpinnings that led to the Great Bear Rainforest Agreement and was also part of the team that created the Muskwa-Kechika Management Area Conservation Area Design. Pierre also led the collaborative efforts to create the Haida Gwaii, Central Coast, Salish Sea, and Waterton Park Natural Area Conservation Plans. Pierre also serves on the boards of directors for the Habitat Acquisition Trust.
