The IISAAK OLAM Foundation (IOF) takes a relational, grassroots approach to knowledge-sharing, grounded in Ethical Space, Two-Eyed Seeing, and the principle of hishuk-ish-tsa’walk (everything is one, everything is connected).
As an Indigenous-led, educational non-profit, IOF enables access to the knowledge and tools Indigenous Nations, governments, and communities need to lead and govern IPCAs and similar initiatives so they can care for the Land in ways that reflect their laws, responsibilities, teachings, and ways of life.
We co-create knowledge and resources in close collaboration with communities to ensure they are meaningful, respectful, and aligned with community priorities and protocols. We also collaborate with allies and institutions to foster the understanding and skills necessary to support Indigenous-led conservation in a principled and reciprocal manner.
Our knowledge-sharing efforts span from designing land-based learning programs to co-creating digital resources, curriculum, and beyond. We support the Indigenous-led conservation movement by making knowledge accessible, relevant, and actionable across generations and geographies.
While we tailor and safeguard knowledge where appropriate and by request, we carry a shared responsibility to ensure that, wherever possible and with consent, insights and learning are adapted and shared more broadly to benefit all, in the spirit of We Rise Together.
