Workshops

The IISAAK OLAM Foundation offers safe and ethical virtual spaces for meaningful conversations, knowledge exchange, and relationship-building. We work alongside Indigenous Nations and their allies to advance Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) across Canada, responding directly to the priorities and knowledge needs identified by Indigenous Nations, governments, and communities.

Several new workshop offerings are currently being designed. These new workshops respond to the current needs and requests of Indigenous Nations interested in or already advancing IPCAs in their territories.

Please note: We are not currently accepting custom workshop requests. We are instead devoting time to design opportunities that can maximize our capacity for the greatest impact, which minimizes the cost for participants.

Workshops for Indigenous Nations

As the first Indigenous-led organization dedicated to supporting the establishment and stewarding of IPCAs, IOF responds directly to the resource and knowledge needs identified by Indigenous Nations as they realize their visions and plans.

We hold safe and ethical spaces for meaningful conversations, collaborations, relationship-building, and learning. We offer workshops that introduce IPCAs and their diverse opportunities, as well as practical approaches for planning, financing, and governing IPCAs. These workshops are geared towards Indigenous members and non-Indigenous representatives of Nations at various stages of learning about, creating, or caring for IPCAs.

Workshops for Non-Indigenous Organizations/Supporters and Allies of Indigenous-led Conservation

The IISAAK OLAM Foundation is catalyzing a movement of individuals and organizations who wish to change the way nature conservation happens in Canada.

As part of the #WeRiseTogether movement, we recognize that everyone has a role to play in healing past harms, recognizing and valuing Indigenous knowledge systems, and fostering positive relationships for the future.

We share knowledge and guidance across all sectors to build unity and common ground. That is why we work with federal, provincial, and municipal governments, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, the private sector, and community groups. We create connections and safe spaces for meaningful conversations, collaborations, and relationships that are essential for reconciliatory work.

We offer virtual workshops centred on personal and organizational reconciliation journeys, building respectful and trustworthy relationships with Indigenous Nations, the pivotal role of Indigenous leadership in environmental conservation, how to ethically support Indigenous-led conservation initiatives, and related topics.
