How can we collectively “overwrite” holidays that have become overly commercialized, such as Valentine’s Day, with an Indigenous lens?
Let’s come together in discussion and celebration this February 12-14th to find out!
On Friday February 12th, we’re going to kick of a historic three-day event in celebration of Valentines Zaagidiwin Day!
This national online event, hosted be the IISAAK OLAM Foundation and Reconciling Ways of Knowing, will explore how Indigenous concepts of love can transform our understanding of wellbeing and economy.
Dr. David Suzuki, Dr. Kim TallBear, Dr. John Borrows, Val Courtois, Elder Larry McDermott and Danika Littlechild (among many others!) are going to grace our event with their (virtual) presence and ideas on this topic.
Federal MP Jenica Atwin (named Parliament’s ‘rising star’ by her peers) will co-emcee the three-day series with our very own Eli Enns (President and Co-Founder of the IISAAK OLAM Foundation).
$20 (general admission) & $10 (students and seniors) per day. Registration links available through the Official Event Page. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook @iisaakolam for regular updates.
